It’s a great irony that an intensely Catholic country like Colombia actually “does” Easter much better than in the US — there are stations of the cross in the streets all over the city, our conjunto closes down for several hours twice during Semana Santa for mass in the street. And, although it’s largely based on superstition, I’ve come to enjoy the citywide shut down on Good Friday, everything quiet and peaceful.
