Seminars

Follow After Ministries exists to glorify God by forming disciples passionately devoted to following Christ. To accomplish that purpose, we offer seminars on a wide variety of topics for churches and schools, adults and youth, including:

Adult Seminars
The Cross at the Center
Drawing on the text of 1 Corinthians especially, this seminar examines the centrality of the cross in ministry, community, marriage, and/or family, depending on the needs of the audience. Fixing our eyes on the hill of Calvary, we will pursue the way of the cross—the way of self-sacrificial love—in areas such as humility, forgiveness, admonition, and service.

Go and Make Disciples
This seminar lays the foundation of the importance of fulfilling our commission and an overview of the philosophy of discipleship before providing practical application of the principles to real life—in the home, in the church, and/or in school.

  • An excellent resource for churches or Christian schools looking to make personal disciple-making a priority!

Making Disciples of Your Children
For parents, no discipleship relationship should take greater precedence than that with our children. And yet, too often families leave disciple-making to the church. This seminar provides practical guidance for shepherding children to the Good Shepherd, tackling issues such as parental priorities, family devotional times, discipline, and praying for/with your children.

Handling the Word of Truth
This seminar provides instruction in basic principles of Bible study, such as the importance of literary and historical contexts, examining grammar and structure, principles for reading different genres, a guide to some common mistakes, and application of the text to your life.

For the Sake of Your Name
Seeking to overcome the egocentric quality of so many prayers today, this seminar gives a lesson in God-centered prayer, drawing on the examples of men of faith in Scripture. If we were to place as our highest importance the glory of God’s name, how would that change our prayer lives?

Praying Your Heart
Walking through the Psalter, this seminar encourages us to bring our emotions—whatever they might be—to God in prayer, knowing that he meets us where we are. As we examine several individual psalms, we will see how the psalmists model genuine, heartfelt conversation with God, and how we can imitate their courageous prayers.

Youth Seminars
Back to the Basics
This seminar addresses the basic questions of the Christian faith that all teenagers must answer for themselves, such as: Am I a Christian? Who am I in Christ? What matters most in life? Who is God? How can I know him better?

A Word to the Wise
Unfolding the timeless wisdom of the book of Proverbs, this seminar addresses many of the most important issues facing today’s youth, such as relationships with God, parents, friends, and the opposite sex; making decisions, laziness, and the value of seeking wisdom generally.

Dating to the Glory of God
If our primary desire were to glorify God through all our interactions with the opposite sex, how might that look? This seminar addresses modesty, sexuality, and “dating” from a thoroughly biblical perspective, drawing especially on the majestic portrait of biblical love found in Song of Songs.

Other seminar topics include missions, evangelism, suffering and evil, worship, compassion ministries, and exposition of specific books of the Bible.

All seminars are steeped in Scripture and orthodox evangelical theology, and can be tailored to meet the audience’s needs, whether for retreats, youth groups, Sunday school classes, mission weeks, chapels, preaching and the like.
